Last month, the world mourned the sudden death of Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others after a fatal helicopter crash. Weeks later family, friends, fans, and teammates gathered to celebrate their lives at the Staples Center.

Several stars showed up at Staples Center on Monday, including Beyoncé who performed two songs: XO, one of Kobe’s favorites, and Halo. Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez also attended the memorial service, and both Queen B and J-Lo paid tribute to the father and daughter duo through their nail art.

For her look, Beyoncé incorporated the Lakers colours – purple and gold, which legendary basketball player donned for 20 seasons. During her soundcheck, Bey wore a Lakers jersey, but changed into a gold suit for her actual performance. On her purple nails, crystals spelled out “KOBE” and “GIGI.”

Meanwhile, Jennifer had cream coloured nails flecked with Lakers gold. One finger bore the number 2, Gigi’s jersey number, while Kobe’s number, 24, was applied on another.

The memorial service was a beautiful event which pulled on everyone’s heartstrings. Kobe’s wife Vanessa Bryant spoke out publicly for the first time since the tragedy, calling Gigi a “beautiful, kind, happy, silly, thoughtful and loving sister and daughter”. She also referred to her husband as “my everything” calling him an “amazing person, husband and father.”

“They were so easy to love. Everybody naturally gravitated towards them,” Bryant said, as CNN reports. “They were funny, happy, silly, and they loved life. They were so full of joy and adventure. God knew they couldn’t be on this Earth without each other. He had to bring them home to have them together. Babe, you take care of our Gigi. I got Nati, BiBi and KoKo, and we’re still the best team.”
