The singer wore Valentino couture, naturally.

The long awaited release of Lion King is here and with it an original song performed by Beyoncé.

Titled ‘Spirit’ and described by the star as a “love letter to Africa'”, the song features on the soundtrack of the Disney remake and pays homage to the continent through music, dancers, jewellery and of course colourful fashion.

Beyoncé’s opening outfit is a stunning Valentino Haute Couture gown from the SS 2019 collection that perfectly matched the lilac tulle dress worn by her seven-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter, who appears in the video. Blue Ivy also features on the track ‘Brown Skin Girl’ along with her mother, Saint Jhn and Wiz Kid.

Talking to the Guardian newspaper, Beyoncé said that authenticity was important to her so ‘the music was not only performed by the most interesting and talented artists but also produced by the best African producers’.
