Show them some TLC

All of us have stepped up our hygiene game in the aim to curb further spread of COVID-19. Whether it’s singing the chorus of Britney Spears ‘Oops! I did It Again’ hit that lasts exactly 20-seconds while washing your hands, or stocking up on enough Dettol to last the rest of the year, the extra attention we are paying to our hands has unquestionably resulted in dry or cracked skin.

Continuous exposure to hard water and chemicals in the gel can damage the integrity of the skin causing it to become sore and irritated. While we strongly recommend that you continue to wash your hands regularly, it is also a good idea to place a healing cream or balm alongside your soap. You could even have it on your bedside table so you can apply a thick layer before bed.

Avoid lotions as they wont be as effective as thick creams or balms, and choose a scent that you really love. Our personal favourite is Aesop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm which is packed with shea butter and coconut oil to tackle rugged knuckles and pealing nails, while the scent of mandarin orange, lavender and rosemary leaf is simply divine.

Indulgent texture of L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream feels like a treat when applying and contains almond, honey and coconut, while the innovative formula of Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve help absorb the moisture from their air, creating a protective film over your hands. It contains botanical oils and natural wax derived from olive oil. Sisley Hand and Nail Repair Cream nourishes the skin and cuticles thanks to it’s complex blend of ingredients, including chestnut extract, Biosaccharide solution and a plant-based sugar.
