From the award-winning Champagne Pop highlighter to its dewy foundation, over the years Becca Cosmetics has been a leading brand in the beauty industry since it launched in 2001.

However, due to the challenges imposed by the pandemic, the much-loved beauty brand announced its closure on Instagram earlier last week.

Becca Cosmetics announced it would cease trading this coming September.

The brand was founded by Rebecca Morrice Williams in Perth Australia, back in 2001 and quickly became well-known for its cruelty-free and PETA-certified ethics for creating products while it fell under its parent company Estee Lauder.

“The global pandemic has had an impact on everyone around the world on many levels,” their announcement on Instagram stated. “It has also had a tremendous impact on so many businesses. At Becca, an accumulation of challenges, together with the global impact of COVID-19, has sadly been more than our business can withstand, and we have had to make the heartbreaking decision to close down the Becca brand at the end of September 2021.”

While the brand’s journey is coming to a close, they encouraged their customers and fans to keep showcasing the “beauty inside you”.

“We are confident that the spirit of Becca will continue to live on through all of you,” the statement added. “Please keep illuminating your true selves. Light your own paths and push your limits. Share positivity and light the way for others as you make an impact on this world. Own your light on your own terms.”

With the news coming as a shock to many, fans shared their devastation about the news.

“This is so sad. I’m so sorry to hear,” one fan said. “Covid really sucks… I love your products and will be stocking up on all my faves.”

“I feel devastated about this,” another said. “You guys are family to me.”
