Bella Hadid has accused Instagram of “shadow-banning” her.
The part-Palestinian supermodel took to the social media app over the weekend to claim she had been locked out of posting on her account after posting about Palestine.
“My Instagram has disabled me from posting on my story – pretty much only when it is Palestine based I’m going to assume,” Hadid said.
“When I post about Palestine I get immediately shadowbanned and almost 1 million less of you see my stories and posts.”
The model, who has 51 million followers, went on to share a screenshot of the restrictions that appeared outlining that the issue had been going on for “two hours”. The 24-year-old had been trying to reshare a video of the conflict currently occurring in Palestine, from attacks by Israeli forces.
Previous Instagram issues
It’s not the first time Hadid has had issues with Instagram regarding her posts related to Palestine.
Back in 2020, Hadid posted a screengrab of her father, Mohamed Hadid’s passport stating his birthplace as Palestine. However, the model went on to accuse the social media giant of deleting her post.
Sharing a screenshot she said at the time, “Instagram removed my story that only said ‘My baba and his birthplace of Palestine’ with a photograph of his American passport.”
Shortly after the incident occurred, Instagram issued a statement recognising the error and apologised to Hadid.
