The mermaid core trend has been around for quite some time and it’s not showing signs of slowing down.

While you think mermaid core is a visual aesthetic, celebrities and style setters such as Zendaya, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Sofia Richie Grainge and Gisou founder Negin Mirsalehi have been moonlighting as a mermaid and making this micro trend wearable #IRL.

Don’t fret, you don’t need to be a redhead like Ariel of The Little Mermaid to recreate this look.

For those blessed with natural and textured locks or you’re fresh off the beach with salty and wavy hair, simply plait your hair into thin braids and finish off with a curl definer to achieve luscious piece-y curls with a wet-look effect that bring out the layers. If you have straighter hair, you’ll be needing a 3-barrel beach waver, hair crimper or a thin curling wand to make waves along with a few spritzes of texturizing wave spray to add definition.

For extra finishing touches, styling creams and leave-in conditioners will weigh the hair down and keep it heavy while keeping the curls intact. It’s important to note that you don’t have to make it look perfect. The more undone and beachy it looks, the better.
