beauty Q&A

Need a break from a breakout? Looking to make your teeth a little less yellow? Fear not, Beauty Editor Samantha Hamilton-Rushforth answers your burning questions…

Q.) I know I should give my skin a chance to breathe but my forehead has just erupted in spots and I’m going to the beach tomorrow, is there a foundation that I can wear in the sea, sun and sand that won’t budge?

A.) One of Shiseido’s best-sellers is their foundation compact which comes with an application sponge and mini mirror so you can retouch if need be throughout the day. With a low SPF6, I would still recommend you wear sunscreen but this water resistant formula will make sure your blemishes stay covered, no matter what.

Q.) My teeth aren’t exactly pearly white, is it true that red lipstick makes them look more yellow?

A.) If you weren’t blessed with an A-list smile the most important colour to stay away from is orange, it will only enhance the yellow on your teeth. You can still wear red shades but make sure they have cold blue rather than warm orange undertones. Head to any make-up counter at M.A.C or Illamasqua and they’ll be able to steer you in the right direction.

Q.) As a Parisian I love French perfumes by Chanel, Estee Lauder and Yves Saint Lauren, but I’m looking to add a little Arabian flair to my fragrance collection, what would you recommend?

A.) The new Secret de Rochas Oud Mystere might be just what you’re looking for. It balances classic French florals like rose and gardenia with delicate Middle Eastern influences including luxurious spices and heavy woods – a fragrance fusion of both worlds.
