beauty Q&A

We’ve got the answers to your burning beauty questions…

Q.) I have a few dark spots on the back of my hands and neck from sun bathing, I was told to put lemon juice on them to help them fade, does this work?

A.) The reason why you’ve been told to put lemon juice on your skin is because it contains exfoliating acids and pure vitamin C, both of which have lightening properties. However, as soon as the fruit is oxidised the strength of these ingredients will diminish so I wouldn’t hang you’re hopes on this unproven herbal method. Instead try a scientifically proven formula like the new Vitamine C Concentrated Formula Powder Serum from Institut Esthederm. It diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as healing skin damage.

Q.) It’s my daughters prom next week, I’m looking for a great beauty gift to get her, what would you recommend?

A.)  Arabic make-up brand Mikyajy are doing some fantastic all-in-one palettes at the moment so I’d pick up one of their teenager-friendly Princess Diary kits that contain everything she’ll need to look her most beautiful on the night.

Q.) I cant’ stop biting my nails! Is there a cream or serum I can use to help me stop?

A.)  There are topical, bad tasting polishes you can buy at the pharmacy to curb your bad habit but I would suggest a much more aesthetically pleasing route and investing in some suave false nails. Local make-up maven Huda Kattan has created a variety of different sets for every occasion so whether you’re at the beach, bar or boardroom there’s no excuse to not have pretty fingertips.
