Beauty treatments favoured by celebs are often out of budget for us mere mortals. But the latest craze to hit Hollywood is probably lurking in your kitchen cupboard.
Victoria Beckham and Katy Perry are among a host of A-listers slathering avocados, blueberries, yogurt and honey on their faces in pursuit of glowing skin.
These DIY facials are packed with nutrients, antioxidants and exfoliants – and what’s more, they’re super easy to do at home.
Check out a few of our favourites…
THE BLUEBERRY MASK
What is it? Often hailed as the king of super-foods, blueberries are great for your skin too. Mash a large handful with a tablespoon of greek yoghurt and you’ve got a fabulous rejuvenating face-mask.
How does it work? The antioxidants in blueberries are wonderful for hydrating dry skin, while the lactic acid in yogurt breaks down old skin cells.
THE AVOCADO MASK
What is it? Fight signs of aging and combat the effects of air-con with the über-nourishing power of the avocado. Half a ripe avocado mashed with one teaspoon of yogurt and half a teaspoon of honey will do the trick.
How does it work? As well as being ideal for a moisture boost, avocado is packed with the antioxitant vitamin E – great for neutralising free radicals.
THE HONEY MASK
What is it? Sweet things are usually bad for you, and honey is no exception. But instead of eating it, paint it on your skin to help heal chapped or broken areas.
How does it work? Honey has antibacterial properties that help fight pimples and reduce infection.
