There’s nothing us ladies love more than a little bit of pampering and in Dubai the options to do so are endless – #firstworldporblems. However, constant pampering can sometimes leave us feeling a little self-indulgent. Step in Spa Dunya where proceeds from treatments go to charity. It’s beauty for a cause – win/win.
The lovely people at Spa Dunya have teamed up with Frontline Fashion to give you a good reason to pamper yourself. Book any treatment at Spa Dunya, throughout March, and they will donate five per cent of proceeds from all beauty services to Frontline Fashion’s Haiti school projects, which provide education, food and the chance of a brighter, more beautiful future, to those affected by the devastating 2010 Haiti earthquake which saw over 250,000 people killed in under one minute.
Melissa Gilchrist Higgins, founder of Frontline Fashion, quit her job in fashion and beauty PR in order to volunteer in the disaster zone and later launched her company to raise awareness and money for those suffering in Haiti. “A simple diet of rice, beans and oil can feed a family and 70 of these meals costs just Dhs125,” said Melissa. “The same amount allows us to send one of our 400 children to school offering a uniform, an education and one meal a day.”
In addition to this direct support from Spa Dunya, when you visit the salon for your treatment you can buy one of the Zanmi (Haitian friends) Humanity is Always in Style tees at a discounted price of Dhs120. All profits from these sales go to directly to helping the children in Haiti.
So, this March, celebrate strength, motherhood, beauty, sisters, daughters and wives and give back beautifully! As Melissa says: “Together we can make a difference.”
