While beaches opened last weekend, much to the excitement of Dubai residents, strict precautionary guidelines for health and safety were outlined.

However, it seems some beachgoers haven’t been following the measures as over 100 people were fined by Dubai Police for not adhering to the guidelines, The National reports.

In the announcement last week that public beaches in Dubai were opening including JBR, Al Mamzar, Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim, the Dubai Municipality stated residents and citizens must “abide by the public safety measures and guidelines to ensure the safety and security of the community”.

This includes wearing masks at all times if not in the water and no more than five to a group in gatherings. Social distancing of two metres must also be ensured. Not doing so can result in fines of Dhs3,000.
