Barneys New York is going through some financial difficulty with seven outlets already shut, but their knight in shining armour could be from this region.
According to Gulf News, Arabian Oud, a Saudi-based retail and real estate group, has teamed up with Solitaire Partners to make a bid in the “area of $270 million.” If the offer is approved then the very first legendary department store in the Middle East will open in Saudi Arabia.

More than a store, Barneys New York is a creative space for discovering new designers and being inspired. It started as a menswear discount retailer in 1923 and expanded to include high-end womenswear in the ’60s, and by late ’70s it became a force in the fashion world.
Final day for bid submission is October 31 so we might know in the coming days if Saudi will become our new shopping destination.
