Balenciaga is no stranger to causing a stir when it comes to fashion and its most recent fashion show was certainly no different.

Unveiling its latest collection by the house’s creative director Demna Gvasalia, Balenciaga’s SS23 collection was presented in a ‘mud show’ at Paris Fashion Week.

In its post-apocalyptic shown, models, which included Kanye West and Bella Hadid, waded through mounds of mud in a series of eclectic ensembles which included a dress made from Balenciaga Lariat bags.

However, a couple of weeks post the show, what has got everyone talking is one of the bags which made its debut in the show. A leather version of a Lays bag of chips, which is reportedly set to sell for $1,800 (approx Dhs6,600). To give some context, a normal bag of Lay’s chips retails for around Dhs6.

The bag was first introduced during the dystopian mud show being carried by models in a series of different colours – or rather flavours.

Now we’ve been given a closer look at the new “bag” on the ‘Demnagram’ Instagram account and let’s just say the close-up is, er, interesting.

The design is uncanny to a normal bag potato chips, but features the ‘Balaneciaga’ embossed across the middle of the design under the ‘Lays’ logo. The clutch bag then features a zip at the top. And how many flavours (or designs) are there? So far on the Demnagram account, three flavours have been unveiled – plain, spicy and salt and vinegar.

Naturally, there has been ca slew of comments made about the bag on social media. Here’s some of our favourite reactions so far.
