From Bella Hadid kicking off NYFW with Tom Ford, to a surprise appearance from Libyan American journalist Noor Tagouri, we saw models from Arab origin dominate the runway.

Nora Attal

The Moroccan-British model was recently a part of Alexander McQueen’s Spring/Summer 2019 campaign. The 19-year-old was also part of Chanel’s Spring 2019 campaign. Ever since she was discovered, Nora has been walking the runways of some of the fashion industry’s biggest brands, and this fashion week was no different.

She kicked off New York Fashion week with French luxury leather goods, Longchamp. Their collection featured lots of studded, leather minis, bold black and white graphic tops and pants. Nora walked the show in a leather mini-skirt, a sheer top, and a chunky belt.

She also walked Brandon Maxwell’s show, which he described as “If she doesn’t need it, she doesn’t have it”. The model walked down the runway twice, once in a metallic powder-blue wide pants, with a velvet coat and a belt. The second look was more laid back, as she strutted down the runway in a long skirt, with a thigh-high slit and an oversized white turtle neck sweater.

Nora was also part of the Anna Sui show, which was quirky to say the least. The collection was very colourful and vibrant, as the models walked down the catwalk in short wigs in hues of blue, purple and pink. The 19-year-old wore a blue wig, as she wore a green blouse and matching skirt, with blue stockings and undershirt.

Gigi Hadid

The Palestinian-American super model walked for Tom Ford, as they kicked off New York Fashion Week. The model walked the runway in a bold bright look. She wore a wine red velvet blazer, with a burgundy top underneath, and satin red pants. The somewhat monochromic look made Gigi pop-out on the catwalk, and is one of our favourite looks from this fashion week.

Arab models NYFW

Noor Tagouri

The Libyan-American journalist made a surprise appearance on the runway, when she walked for Rebecca Minkoff. Noor strutted in her hijab, a sign of diversity in this fashion week. She wore a matching blouse, pants, and heels combo – the scarf also matched in pattern. She posted a photo on her Instagram, which she captioned, “Wow. First time on a catwalk — and had the honor of closing out @RebeccaMinkoff’s show at @NYFW. She is the epitome of what it means to lift women up, to be inclusive, to serve with love.”
