\n\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nThese past two weeks in Malaysia and Indonesia was my turning point. I never realised how much Miss Universe New Zealand has changed my life. I did back to back interviews, photoshoots, meetings and events where I would be out by 8am and be back by midnight. It has been the most intense two weeks of my life. But it\u2019s worth it when you always receive the warmest comments or messages saying that I\u2019m their inspiration. Girls that wear the hijab would tell me that they now feel beautiful wearing it and normal everyday girls would message me to say that they are happy that I\u2019m in the pageant because now there is someone that they can relate to because I look like them. My life long goal has always been to liberate and empower people- especially young girls and I believe that Miss Universe New Zealand has made my dream come true. I never had the intention of having all of this attention but it was really important for me to make sure that I stayed true to myself, that it didn\u2019t get to my head and that I had used it to make the best possible change. I think back about the past two weeks as only a finalist. And now I\u2019m trying to imagine what would happen if I win Miss Universe New Zealand. But every time I do, I get so overwhelmed because it could be bigger than anything that I could ever imagine. For the past two weeks I\u2019ve been waking up to the same question: Do I want this? But the thing is, I need to do it. If I win Miss Universe New Zealand I won\u2019t just be representing New Zealand, I would be representing Malaysians, Indonesians, Islam, women wearing the hijab and the minority. If I win I could also be the first Hijabi to make it to the international stage for Miss Universe. I believe that my winning Miss Universe New Zealand will open so many opportunities and possibilities not for myself but for women all around the world. Although it is my own Miss Universe journey, I tried to make it so that it wasn\u2019t about me. It has always been about breaking boundaries and stereotypes as well as going beyond beauty.
