Prepare for more shows to binge-watch

Last night, Apple held their bi-annual press conference, where the technology giant announced their latest project, Apple TV +. The launch of the streaming was announced with the help of Hollywood A-listers Oprah Winfrey, Steve Carell, Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston.

At the event, Apple mentioned a bunch of other services, including a credit card, a gaming subscription service and a revamped news offering. But the streaming and gaming services are the only ones coming to the UAE. So what will AppleTV+ bring to our lives? The add-free streaming service will include a slew of exclusive original content, movies and documentaries – more shows for us to binge watch.

If you are planning on subscribing to AppleTV+ then you should know that infamous director, Steven Spielberg, has joined forces with the service to remake the science fiction anthology show Amazing Stories. Another exciting project to anticipate includes Jennifer Aniston’s return to TV, where she and her former Friends co-star Reese Witherspoon will star alongside Steve Carell for their new series, The Morning Show. The show will follow the mega-stars as they give us an inside look at the lives of the morning talk-show hosts, exploring the unique challenges faced by the women (and men) who carry out this daily televised ritual.

The Legally Blonde actress took to Instagram to share some shots from the event in a post which she captioned, “So excited to announce my new @apple show at the #appleevent! It’s called The Morning Show ☀️and it reveals what happens in the fast-paced world of broadcast morning news. I star alongside Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell & many other talented cast members. Making this project with Apple has been such a dream! Can’t wait for you all to see it! Coming this Fall!”

Other stars who are coming to our small screen thanks to Apple include: Aquaman actor Jason Momoa, Oscar-winner Alfre Woodard, Brave singer Sara Bareilles, JJ Abrams and star of HBO’s Silicon Valley, Kumail Nanjiani. However, it seemed like all of these stars were warming up the audience, leading up to an appearance by the incredible Oprah Winfrey. The former television mogul worked with Apple on two documentaries, one on sexual harassment called Toxic Labour and an untitled one about mental health.

Oprah shared her experience with her 16 million Instagram followers, writing, “There’s never been a moment quite like this one. We have this unique opportunity to rise to our best selves in how we use our technology. Apple TV+ launches this fall. See you there.”
