Tucked away on the ground floor of InterContinental Dubai is the little (well not really) gem, Anise.
Décor
Sleek, modern and trendy. The stunning red ice designs, instead of being overpowering, give the restaurant a lively and festive glow. The sprinkled red rose petals over tables only add to its allure.
Ambience
There is a refreshing mix of couples celebrating alongside hotel guests and families. We were made to feel right at home by the totally non-intrusive and helpful staff.
Food
Buffets can sometimes be tricky affairs, but not at Anise. Spread over eight live stations – one for each tip of the Anise spice – it does not disappoint at all. Be it Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Mongolian there is ample choice. You can choose from an array of seafood (Lobster Thermidor too), meat and vegetarian dishes for a delicious range of tastes.
We absolutely gorged on the sushi, the steamed dumplings, the Chetinad scallops with maple syrup and the Peking duck. And, that was just for starters… you probably have the drift by now.
And don’t forget to leave space for the strawberry mousse cake, tarts and chocolate Fondants, which get our vote. Wash it all down with a choice of cocktails, as that is precisely what the polished bar in the centre is for.
Why Bother
The restaurant exceeds all expectations the minute you step through the entrance. Though a couple can dine in privacy, the focus is more on an enjoyable meal for everyone, be it a table for two, for a group of besties or just a family get-together.
