Fahmy established her label 50 years ago and served as a trailblazer for other Egyptian women with an entrepreneurial spirit, who also wanted to set up their own businesses.

“So I tied my hair back, put on my overalls and spent my days in a workshop full of men learning the tricks of jewellery making,” she says in a statement.

Her trademark combines cultural inscriptions and intricate craftsmanship resulting in well-researched pieces that pay tribute Egyptian history. The brand has two designers – Fahmy and Amina Ghali. They travel round the globe, immersing themselves in different cultures to then translate them into wearable art.

Each piece of jewellery revolves around a central inspirational motif or a poem that carries a personal message to its wearer, making the calligraphy one of our unique signatures, in addition to pioneering in combining silver and gold. One of the techniques that looks particularly striking is Filigree. Resembling lace in appearance, this approach transforms a jewellery piece into an ornate work of art that looks truly unique.
