What does this new role entail? Clooney will be heading up a panel comprising of the world’s best legal minds to advise the government on improving media freedom and examine the current laws protecting journalists in the country.

“Through my legal work defending journalists I have seen first-hand the ways in which reporters are being targeted and imprisoned in an effort to silence them and prevent a free media,” she said in a statement.

As a barrister, Clooney has worked on a number of high-profile human rights cases and only a few weeks ago has partnered with Prince Charles’s Prince’s Trust International charity and had Female Empowerment award named after her.

On the day of the announcement, she wore Zac Posen.

A modern day superwoman.
