We’ve been talking about this since April so it is with utter excitement that we can finally say – it’s here! The much anticipated Alexander Wang X H&M collection hits stores this week and we have a sneak preview to whet your appetite.
The collaborative partnership between Alexander Wang and H&M was announced at April’s Coachella Valley Music Festival, and the 30-year-old designer also teased us with a short countdown video on Instagram.
The women’s collection captures the speed of the city, mixing sports and performance for everyday life. Technical details and fabrics are used for both function and fashion, including Wang’s first ever versatile performance wear wardrobe. The women’s collection includes 38 exclusively designed garments, as well as accessories and a playful take on everyday objects. The result is a collection to be worn on the street, in the gym, at the club ‒ the way women live their lives today.
To represent the scale of the Alexander Wang lifestyle, the collection also includes a range of objects, including a yoga mat, a water bottle, towels, sunglasses with an oversized head strap and swimming goggles. There is alos boxing gloves, a whistle on a two-finger ring, and for the victor, a magnetised Alexander Wang trophy cup.
Alexander Wang held an exclusive celebrity bash in Harlem New York to showcase his range. Everybody knows that you can’t make celebrities trek across town to go to a show, but Wang can and his A-list guests included Justin Theroux, Eddie Redmayne, Solange Knowles, Mary J. Blige, Jessica Chastain, and Sofía Sanchez Barrenechea. A runway show was hosted and Missy Elliot provided the urban soundtrack, which perfectly complimented the edgy collection.
Alexander Wang x H&M will be available in 250 stores worldwide on November 6, 2014 as well as online.
