Supermodel, mother and philanthropist Adriana Lima stars in her latest fashion campaign for BCBGMAXAZRIA to mark the brand’s 30th year.
Styled by Rachael Wang and shot by Zoey Grossman, the “Be Your Own Muse” Fall 2019 collection features powerful silhouettes, figure-flattering suiting and sensual textures.
Below, the Brazilian beauty talks us through her favourite pieces, how modelling shaped her personal style and also shares her beauty essentials.
Talk us through your favourite pieces from the BCBG Fall 19 collection.
Wow! It’s so hard to choose because I love it all. The day before the campaign shoot, I went into the BCBG offices in LA and had a fitting. We tried on about 20+ looks and had to narrow it down. It was almost impossible to choose! I love a red velvet dress I wore in the campaign images, a black and sequin dress, a pair of studded boots, a green faux fur and a big black chunky sweater.
What was the highlight of shooting the campaign?
Working with Zoey Grossman. It was my first time working with her and she really is so talented. The combination of the amazing clothes and her lighting and direction made me feel so beautiful.
Which pieces would you pick out for us in the Middle East?
Definitely the black dress with the silver sequins.
What has a career in modelling teach you about your personal style?
I think a career in modelling has taught me what I like and what I don’t like. I think it has taught me how to be creative and have a point of view with my style.
Do you still get excited about jumping in front of the camera or on a runway after all these years?
Of course! I still get excited and nervous before any big photoshoot, event, runway. I think it’s a good thing. It shows that after all of these years, I still love what I do.
You’re one of the most recognisable faces in the world with a huge social following, does that add extra pressure on what you choose to wear?
My day to day is quite casual, but when I attend an event and walk a red carpet, that’s when I work with my amazing stylist, Erin Walsh, for a real showstopping look. I usually have an idea of what look I want to achieve, but it always has to be timeless.
What are your fashion and beauty essentials?
For beauty, I have a coconut oil based face wash than I get on Amazon that I love. I went to Korea recently and bought some of their face masks for long flights, and for makeup, I love Maybelline mascaras and lipsticks. For fashion, I can’t live without a great pair of boots or heels to put with something dressy or casual and a black dress or chunky sweater. I think those are staples in my wardrobe.
What is on your shopping wish list for Fall?
Of course, this BCBGMAXAZRIA collection. I need to find some new coats and boots. That’s always something fun to look for during the Fall months when you can mix and match and layer.
What was the last photo you took?
I’ve been on vacation around Europe, so it was a really pretty view of the ocean.
Will we see you in Dubai soon?
I hope so! I went on a girl’s trip last year and had the best time. I would love to go back for work or vacation.
