Usually, my blog is about a week in my life. Today, I am handing overs the reins to these super-chic Chanel shades to tell their story of their week living it large in Dubai…

Since arriving in Dubai a few weeks ago, I made it my business to find the best places in town to shop, sip espressos and read a good book. I started my journey at the new Chanel boutique at Mall of the Emirates. What a gorgeous new space! All 600 square metres of it.

The interiors, designed by New York architect Peter Marino, are a dream, with the separated rooms dedicating themselves to everything from bags to watches. The tweed sofas, Robert Greene artworks and chandeliers remind me of a place I know in Rue Cambon…

Before leaving I made friends with the famed hula-hoop bag. Alas, if I could take this home with me…

Off to have coffee and cake. I discovered a place dear to my heart. Not only is this where the beautiful people go to eat (and shop) but everything on the menu is organic and macrobiotic. The juices are made the right way (pressed). Try the guilt-free blueberry cheesecake – no eggs, dairy or gluten, it is too good to be true. The coffee is great as is the ambience. I highly recommend a visit. With extended hours over Ramadan (sunset to midnight) you will be able to enjoy iftar and suhoor in style this year.

A swim and a little bit of sun always helps shake off the shackles of the week, so I headed to my beach club, The Dubai Marine Beach Resort and Spa. I love it here – the palm trees, striped lounges and old-school feel make it a pit stop every weekend.

It was also an exciting moment to proof the July 2013 Emirates Woman cover at Emirates Printing Press. It’s a serious job and someone has to do it.

I was also lucky enough to get a seat at The Archive at Safa Park before it closed it cool doors for the summer. I didn’t care for my salad (or the service) but the crowd, books and location were second to none. I look forward to cooler times when I can sit outside on the grass and read one of the many books they have on offer, take part in an outdoor yoga session or bring along my boules set for a game or two.

Coco Chanel once said: “A woman who doesn’t wear perfume has no future.” Truer words have never been spoken. Off I went to get some beauty balms and perfume to suit my mood – today was a No 5 day.

All of that shopping can give a girl an appetite, so a filet and pommes frites it was. Thank you to The Meat Co. at Souk Al Bahar for a very warm welcome (and for the best steak outside of Paris).

At the end of a long week, I had to finish a few things off at Emirates Woman HQ – it’s difficult to avert my eyes from the stunning view of The Palm…
