The launch date for the Dubai Frame has been confirmed.

It has been decorating the horizon around Zabeel Park ever since construction began in 2013.

And the sky-scraping Dubai Frame is soon set to open its doors to visitors, giving tourists another major attraction to take in from early next year.

Already thinking about the post-Christmas sales? Here’s when they’ll be

While the 150-metre-tall structure was slated to open in December according to earlier reports, it has just been confirmed that it’ll welcome guests from January 2018.

The exact date of the month hasn’t yet been revealed, but the opening was pushed back as not to clash with the launch of another new hot-spot.

Khalid Al Suwaidi, Director of Leisure Facilities at Dubai Municipality, told Khaleej Times that “since Dubai Safari is opening next month [December], we will inaugurate Dubai Frame in January to avoid opening two major landmarks at the same time”.

Tickets will cost Dhs50 for adults, Dhs30 for kids, and complimentary access will be granted to under-threes and people of determination, the paper reported.

Guests will be able to travel up the 93-metre-wide frame by elevator, before enjoying panoramic views of the city from a glass-panelled bridge that connects the two towers.

The Dhs160 million landmark, which was initially due to open in 2015, was designed by architect Fernando Donis (who’s also behind Dubai’s Porsche Design Towers and the Dubai Renaissance Tower).

Clad in a gold-tone stainless steel, the frame is designed to give views of both old and new Dubai.

On one side, visitors can look out over of the older parts of the city, such as Deira, Umma Harare and Karama, and on the other the vistas are of a more modern, built-up section of Dubai.

The attraction will also feature a museum on the ground floor that showcases Dubai’s transformation from fishing village to the metropolis of today.
