There’s something very Dubai about Queen B’s emerald green gown.
We don’t quite have a Google alert set up for when Beyonce leaves the house, but we do have post notifications turned on for her Instagram. Sometimes she goes months without sharing any pics, and it’s important to be on top of these things.
When our phones dinged today to say she was posting photos, we were in there with pace. The pictures didn’t disappoint – Beyonce looked stunning in a green silk gown with a high slit, long sleeves, and wrapped neckline. Paired with a purple fur stole, it was opulent and a tiny bit over the top (in the best possible way).

Beyonce just can’t get enough of this Dubai-based maternity label
This Dubai-based brand’s robe sold out after Beyoncé wore it (naturally)
In other words, it was a little bit Dubai. She wouldn’t have looked at all out of place at the opening of some plush hotel here in the UAE.
(Beyonce was actually at an event for Tidal, Jay Z’s streaming service.)
While we were half expecting her gown to come from a Middle-Eastern designer, in fact it’s Los Angeles-based Walter Mendez. His daring designs range in price from about US$2000 to over US$10,000 (Dhs7,3400 to Dhs37,000).
And the stylist behind the look? None other than Zerina Akers, who gave us the iconic black-hat Formation look. You know the one. She paired Mendez’s gown with Lorraine Schwartz jewels, which you can see in a bit more detail here:
From the colour combo, to those ostentatious and fun accessories, to her sublime hair and makeup, this is a classic Beyonce look.
While she’s not wearing a local label this time around, Beyonce has before and we’re sure she will again. Twice during her recent pregnancy, the superstar wore Dubai-based maternity label Mina Roe.
“She’s the biggest star of this generation and wearing Mina Roe further reinforces our brand’s values and supports our mission to dress the world’s most stylish mums-to-be,” chief designer Sema told emirateswoman.com back in May.
Then in August, Beyonce slipped on a dark green velvet robe from Dubai label Bouguessa, which is helmed by French-Algerian designer Faiza Bouguessa.
Both those brands saw a massive sales jump after they got the Beyonce tick, and we can imagine it will be the same for Mendez.
Until next time, Queen B.
