The human rights lawyer’s gown was the last wedding dress designed by the late Oscar de la Renta.
With its delicate lace, demure off-shoulder cut, and gossamer-thin veil, it’s quite a sight to behold in the pictures alone.
However fashion fans can now get a glimpse of Amal Clooney’s iconic gown in real life—although, if you’re based in this part of the world, it’ll involve a pretty hefty flight.

The British-Lebanese human rights lawyer has lent her bridal gown to The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, which is currently hosting a fashion exhibition dedicated to one of the world’s most legendary designers.
The Glamour and Romance of Oscar de la Renta celebrates the life of the Dominican designer, who passed away in 2014.
De la Renta personally designed Clooney’s dress for her Venetian nuptials in September 2014, making it the last wedding gown he created before his death.
The retrospective features almost 70 outfits from the designer (including ones worn by Beyoncé, Penelope Cruz and Kirsten Dunst), with a “diplomatic summit” needed to acquire Clooney’s gown.
“We have the great Amal Clooney’s wedding dress, which is the last wedding dress that Oscar designed before he died,” the exhibition’s curator, former Vogue US editor-at-large André Leon Talley, told WWD.
“It’s on loan from Mrs Clooney, but we have been very anxious to have that dress for so long. We wanted it [in San Francisco], but Mrs Clooney reached me through her assistant to say that she felt it was too early to have her dress in an exhibit after she married [George Clooney].”
Clooney and Hollywood actor-director husband George welcomed twins this June, almost three years after tying the knot.
The couple are typically private about their personal lives, though George did open up about the Lebanon-born lawyer’s pregnancy earlier this year.
“It’s exciting and we’re really happy and really excited,” the 56-year-old told French TV show Rencontres de Cinema. “It’s going to be an adventure. We’ve sort of embraced it all… with arms wide open.”
The actor has previously spoken about how meeting his accomplished wife changed his life.
“All I know is that it sort of changed everything in terms of what I thought my future – my future personal future – was going to be,” he told People in 2015. “I’ve always been an optimist about the world.

Amal’s gown will be on display at the US museum until January 28… and we’re seriously mulling over the idea of a far-flung Christmas holiday. Because hey, when a dress is that incredible, you fly 8,000 miles to pay it a visit, right?
