Amna Al Qubaisi is about to become the first Arab woman to compete in Formula 4.

She’s only 17, but this Emirati schoolgirl is about to race into the record books yet again.

Motorsport talent Amna Al Qubaisi is set to become the first Arab woman to compete in Formula 4 when she takes to the track in Europe next season.

The graduate of Abu Dhabi’s Daman Speed Academy will be pitted against some of the world’s best rising drivers when she joins the Prema team for her F4 debut.

However it’s not Al Qubaisi’s only claim to fame – the teen was the first Emirati woman to win the UAE’s senior Rotax Max Challenge karting series last month.

The whiz-behind-the-wheel has dreams to race in Formula 1, something that she hopes will become a reality in the near future.

“It feels really amazing to be the first female driver of the UAE to be racing in Formula Four,” Al Qubaisi told sport360.

“I feel very confident that I can do well there and this is the first step to Formula One. I hope that I can make good progress and hopefully soon I can make it in Formula One.”

The teen, who’ll be sponsored by Kaspersky Lab in F4, also triumphed in the GCC Young Drivers Academy earlier this year.

Skills behind the wheel run in Al Qubaisi’s family – her father Khaled is an endurance racecar driver and managing director of Abu Dhabi Racing.

Her younger sister Hamda is also a competing karting driver, with the pair often racing in different categories of the same championships.

If Al Qubaisi does make it to F1, she’ll join a select group of women who’ve competed at the prestigious event.
