The royal hopes to feed 30,000 families with the generous pledge.
HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein is a known humanitarian, but her latest act is perhaps her most touching yet.
The royal has donated US$39.5 million (Dhs145m) to fight hunger and poverty in Jordan, and made the pledge in her late parents’ honour.
Princess Haya revealed the donation came from herself, as well as her two children with HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
“In memory of my parents, Their Majesties the Late King Hussein Bin Talal and Queen Alia Al Hussein (who was always fondly known by Jordanians as Mother of the Poor), Al Jalila and Zayed bin Mohammed Al Maktoum and I today are proud to donate to Tkiyet Um Ali to help combat hunger in Jordan,” she wrote on Instagram.

“HM King Hussein taught us to stand together during the most difficult of economic times and as a result, with this donation, Tkiyet Um Ali can now feed the 30,000 families living below the poverty and hunger line across our beloved Jordan.
“I have asked my brother, HRH Prince Ali, and HE Hussain Al Majali, and Mr. Zaid Al Hamdan to oversee and ensure that Tkiyet Um Ali reaches their goal.”
The royal lost her father, who ruled the kingdom for 47 years, in 1999, and her mother in 1977.
Tkiyet Um Ali, the non-profit that Princess Haya made the sizeable donation towards, was established by the royal herself in 2003.

The charity was based on an idea by the late Queen Alia, and provides hot meals and food parcels to Jordan’s underprivileged.
“This year marks 18 years since the passing of HM the Late King Hussein Bin Talal and 40 years since the passing of HM the Late Queen Alia Al Hussein who, above all, were people who cared about humanity,” Princess Haya said in a statement.
“There is no more fitting way to celebrate their lives and continue their legacies by doing something they would have done themselves.”
Tkiyet Um Ali currently feeds about 18,000 families living below the poverty line, so HRH’s donation will almost double the amount of households helped.

Princess Haya Personally Delivers Emergency Aid To Haiti
“The donation comes at a time where food insecurity in Jordan has tripled following the Syrian refugee crisis,” said Princess Haya.
“We conducted recent field studies that indicate that today around 30,000 Jordanian families are food insecure, reinforcing the urgent need to reach an additional 10,000 households.”
This isn’t the first time Princess Haya has devoted time and money to a worthy cause, either.
The royal personally supervised the delivery of Dhs1.29 million of aid to Haiti, after the country was devastated by a deadly tropical cyclone last October.
Transported on a plane personally owned by Sheikh Mohammed, Princess Haya manned the distribution of supplies including water purification units, mosquito nets, medical supplies, tents and other support equipment.
