As the year draws to a close, it’s time to reflect on the good, the bad… and the fashionable.
2016 has been a mixed bag of events but one thing’s for certain – the style stars of the Middle East have given us plenty of wardrobe inspiration to take into 2017.
And one royal in particular has given us so many top-notch looks that we’ve struggled to whittle down our favourites.
Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan seems to have a wardrobe positively bursting at the seams with show-stopping gowns and trend-setting separates.
She was our Ramadan-dressing inspiration, she’s our constant muse when it comes to find the perfect wedding guest outfit, and we try to copy her glossy blow-out on a daily basis (with very, very varied results).
We could have easily compiled a top 150, but let’s have a look at the royal’s 15 most noteworthy outfits from the last 12 months…

Queen Rania Shows Us How To Dress During Ramadan
Olive green is not an easy hue to pull off, but HRH does it with aplomb (naturally). We particularly adore the caped shoulders and chunky belt.
With its asymmetric hem and nonchalantly rolled-up sleeves, this silky shirt dress is the perfect mix of laid-back but elegant (brownie points for the mirrored sunnies too).
A moment of silence for how amazing this beaded, fringed, full-length skirt is, please.
Queen of Jordan, Queen of clashing prints.
This tiered baby-pink Valentino gown has flashes of Victoriana, especially with all the flowy ruffles, but the print keeps it looking contemporary. We’re crushing on HRH’s Renaissance ringlets, too.
The mirrored shards on the shoulder make this number regal and right-on-trend all at once.
Whoever said blue and green should never be seen is eating their words right now.
The royal embraces the three Cs in this most refined of outfits – creams, camels and caramels (this is most definitely in our top three of this compilation).
We’re in awe of how effortless Queen Rania makes a high neck appear.
This embroidered pencil skirt – we need it.
The architectural sweep and artful embellishment of this skirt is what designers’ dreams are made of.
HRH looks as resplendent as a spring sunrise in scorching orange.
This gilded teal gown makes Queen Rania look possibly the most regal we’ve ever seen her.
The draped peplum hem, futuristic metallic heels, and military-inspired jacket might be small touches, but they show HRH to be a real 21st-century royal.
The woman to the right is clearly asking (as would we): “But how do you keep an all-white outfit so bright?!”
