Bold move: After starting their arts consultancy, Capsule Arts in 2012, Deepa and Rachael have become the region’s go-to art experts, but their latest project as art consultants for Dubai’s new Rove hotel is their most ambitious project to date. “It’s the first time we’ve been appointed to work on an entire brand. It’s also a home-grown Dubai brand so it’s been fantastic to be a part of it’s development and to have so many local artists associated with the project,” says Rachael. While Deepa adds, “It’s a challenge as we’re dealing with multiple hotels and a large number of artworks.”
Work ethic: However, there is no one more suited to the challenge than this duo. With backgrounds rooted in art and design – Deepa is a trained interior designer while Rachael is a Fine Arts graduate – they both have over a decade of experience working with artists for hospitality projects, art commissions, exhibitions and events. With business nous as well as creative sensibilities, the pair also launched their own print collection in 2013.
Future goals: Though the duo have made great strides in putting Dubai on the international arts map, there is much more they’d like to achieve. “Dubai’s reputation as an arts hub in the region has grown immensely in recent years. The next phase needs to be investors, collectors, and corporates looking to support local rather than buying in big name artists from other parts of the world – this is something we strongly support with our work,” says Rachael.
Be inspired: “We inspire each other greatly, and I wouldn’t choose anyone else to be my partner as it’s our shared vision and ambition that drives us daily to grow as a company and become leaders in our field,” adds Rachael.
