French model, aristocrat (she’s the daughter of André de Seignard, Marquis de La Fressange), fashion designer and perfumer, Ines de la Fressange is the quintessential muse. Not only is she one of the original street style icons thanks her to her Parisian flair, but she’s also been the focus of attention for fashion legends almost all of her life. If ever there was an unassuming It girl, it’s Inès.
The former muse to Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent, and still an ambassador for Roger Vivier, Inès de la Fressange is proof that fashion has no age limits.
At 58 she is just as active with style campaigns then any young, new ‘super’ and is effortlessly more beautiful (how do French women do it?) than many women half her years.
While in Dubai for the Roger Vivier Icons Connected travelling exhibition (May 2 to May 14) we interviewed the mademoiselle about her life lessons:
Style will always be above fashion. When I look at pictures of Jane Birkin I think even if they were taken in the 1970s, she still looks great.
Style isn’t about trying to be fashionable. Style is when you want to look and feel good, not about showing off your clothes.

Roger Vivier is chic, elegant and never boring. Only a pair of shoes or a bag from Vivier can transform a look. It says a lot about the woman who is wearing it – it’s refined, sophisticated and with personality.
When you are sincere everything is easy. That’s why is was so easy working with Roger Vivier.
Dubai’s style scene is wonderfully eclectic. There is so many different people of different nationalities in Dubai. You can feel this mix of culture in women’s style.

Being a muse is fun, but doing your own thing is very rewarding. Of course working at Chanel with Karl Lagerfeld was like being in the best fashion school with the best teacher, but imagining my own collection is great. Also, re-launching Roger Vivier’s brand and observing the quick success was absolutely fulfilling.
My philosophy is to forget hurdles. In life it’s normal to have ups and downs, light and shadow and it’s quite daily. But at the bottom of my heart, I always think that if people I love are in good shape and have good health then nothing else is important.
Everything is possible. I truly believe that. I believe everybody has an angel.
Never over run or worry about things. In ten years, everyone will have forgotten it.
Roger Vivier Icons Connected exhibition will run in The Dubai Mall from May 2 to May 14. Roger Vivier is available in Level Shoe District at The Dubai Mall
