Here’s how to do Valentine’s Day right in Dubai
So, with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, here’s a list of some of the best and more unique places to propose in Dubai…
Pierchic
There are a number of reasons why Pierchic is voted time and time again as Dubai’s most romantic restaurant. Perhaps it’s the boardwalk up to the restaurant, or the sprawling views of the ocean and the Burj Al Arab. The food’s incredible, albeit a touch expensive – but if you’re planning on popping the question, who cares? Unless she says no. If that’s the case, have fun footing the bill…
Bab Al Shams
There are few people in the world that don’t appreciate a good sunset, and there are few places better to observe one than Bab Al Shams Desert Resort and Spa. It’s an oasis plonked in the middle of nowhere, and the relaxed, quiet setting will make the whole proposal feel a little more intimate.
Dubai Miracle Garden
Women tend to like flowers, so why not go all-out and surround her with absolute gazillions of them. You can work up to the big moment with a nice stroll around the park before getting down on one knee next to the blooms or under an archway. The place is super picturesque, so if you want to capture the moment, it may be worth hiring a photographer.
The desert
There’s something magical about being out in the desert, and setting up a little picnic – we’re thinking candles, a blanket and delicious canapés – with nobody else around for miles.
On a yacht
Nice yachts are common place in Dubai, and there are plenty of them up for rent. Have the skipper trundle out into the ocean, and perhaps wait for a nice romantic sunset to pop the big question. You’ve got all the privacy in the world, so nobody can see if your other half says no. However it might make for one whopper of an awkward journey back to shore. Especially for the skipper.
Hotel XVA
Dubai has more than its fair share of five-star resorts, but this intimate boutique hotel, nestled in the heart of historic Al Bastakiya, offers something a bit different. Rich in Arabian traditions and architecture, this 13-key hotel is full of atmospheric courtyards and even a rooftop terrace, so you’ve got plenty of spaces to choose from when it comes to asking that question.
Burj Khalifa
Asking the biggest question of your life in the world’s tallest building? Seems like an easy choice to us. There’s alway the viewing deck or, if you want to make a night out of it, have dinner at drinks at A.mosphere first before pulling out the box.
Via a flash mob
Ever heard the saying ‘there’s no need to make a song and dance about it?’ Well it seems some people weren’t paying attention. If you love embarrassing your partner to the max, then perhaps a flash mob is the way to go. Hit up a local dance studio and check if they’ve got anyone who’ll be willing to help you pop the question, then bust it out when your loved one is least expecting it for the best reaction.
On a hot air balloon
Nab yourselves a morning hot-air balloon ride over the dunes of Dubai. There are few things more romantic than floating through the sky suspended by a giant inflated tarpaulin. With sprawling horizons and unparalleled views of the desert, a balloon proposal would not be one soon forgotten. Just make sure your partner likes heights, otherwise it could be a completely different experience to what you planned.
Skydive Dubai
One for the adventurous couples. If you’ve found someone who wouldn’t mind you confessing your undying love while falling at maximum velocity, then you’ve probably got a keeper. The whole experience will be filmed by the instructors for you to keep later. A great choice if you’re looking to one-up your friends’ proposal stories.
