“I’m really sad that I missed the launch. I really wanted to come and spend time in Dubai,” says Behati Prinsloo. “It seems like a great place. I love the desert and the camels that I always see, it reminds me a lot of Africa.” While the Namibia-born supermodel was unable to join us at the Dubai launch of new scent, Raw Spirit, for which she is the face, she did have time to talk to us in a very honest interview.
She’s a successful supermodel, Victoria’s Secret Angel and the wife to Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, it would be easy to assume life is pretty perfect for Behati Prinsloo, and to be honest it kind of is. Outside activities are the best way to stay in shape. I love doing yoga and Pilates, and I really love paddle boarding.
I never diet, I just don’t over eat, and I’m really good at cutting out bad sugar. I think that’s the most important thing, keeping your sugar intake low.

You have to put the hours in order to get in shape. I have a trainer who I work out with three times a week for an hour each time.
The greatest part of my journey to success is meeting so many people that have changed my life. Meeting my husband, travelling the world, and seeing places I would have never seen if I wasn’t modelling.

The biggest hurdle in modelling is feeling lonely. I miss my family and friends when I travel so much. But I’ve learned to get to a happy medium.
That said, the perks of the job are exploring the world. Seeing the world, experiencing different cultures. I love that.

While travelling always look around and take a minute to appreciate Mother Nature’s beauty.
Sometimes it’s difficult to spot when you’re on the right career path. For me it just happened. I opened my eyes one day and lived in New York City. It’s crazy, I’m so thankful.

Motivation comes from loved ones. My husband helps me a lot with that, and my friends. I’m a very positive person and that helps me, too.
My greatest life lesson is treat people the way you want to be treated.

Anyone wanting to be a model just needs to be themselves. That’s the key, as well as knowing that rejection is just part of the job – don’t take it personally.
