We’ve rounded up the top 5 things to do in Dubai this weekend so you can make the most of your precious days off. From a new opening, beach-y brunches and getting started on Valentine’s Day presents to go-karting and a once in a life time high-flying experience… it’s going to be busy…
Get your Hermès fix
Luxury fashion house Hermès has brought its internationally lauded Wanderland exhibition to Dubai. Having already showcased at the Saatchi Gallery, London and Port de Solferino, on the banks of the river Seine, Paris, Hermès’s digitally savvy Wanderland exhibition is located at The Dubai Fountain from January 22 to February 7. Entrance will be free from 12pm to midnight, seven days a week.
Have a Miami-inspired Beach Brunch
Purobeach, the ‘World’s No.1 Beach Bar,’ has just opened its second destination in Dubai. Lucky us! We’ll be heading to Jebal Ali on Saturday for the first of their weekly Miami Grill Brunch Beach Parties. Tucked away just 10 minutes from Dubai Marina, this urban oasis will be serving up succulent grilled meat, a fresh salad bar and unlimited Sangria while you lounge on their pool-side sun beds enjoying the beach views and the tunes – provided by resident DJs and a live saxophone player. Dhs300 per person for pool access and brunch, email info.uae@purobeach.com for reservations.
Play “never have I ever”
We’re checking another thing off our bucket lists this year with a very unique dining experience. Even if heights aren’t exactly your thing, this unforgettable evening, put together by Cipriani Yas Island, will finally cure you of your vertigo. The adventure starts abroad your own private seaplane in Dubai Creek where you can watch the incredible bird’s-eye views of Dubai and Abu Dhabi on the journey to your delicious three-course dinner at Cirpriani in Yas Island. The experience costs Dhs1,900 per person, minimum 8 people. Visit ciprianiyasisland.com
Beatbox at Boxpark
If you haven’t been to Boxpark yet, we’re really not sure what you’ve been doing. The recycled shipping container outdoor mall is one of the coolest districts in Dubai and the Londoners amongst us will recognise the nod to the East London venue of the same name in hipster Shoreditch. This is the last weekend to enjoy Boxpark’s January beatboxing shows as part of the Dubai Shopping Festival. Free admission on Friday and Saturday from 6pm until late, visit boxpark.ae
Get a head start shopping for the perfect Valentine’s Day Present
We still have another couple of weeks left but there’s nothing wrong with getting a head start on Valentine’s Day. Yes, we’ve all heard that you can’t buy love but there’s certainly no harm in trying with a specially crafted selection of handmade gifts by Fortnum & Mason, including a super-romantic contemporary British poetry collection and bespoke hampers to sweeten your sweetheart next month. With romantic views of the Dubai fountains, their downtown Dubai store’s Tea Salon will also be serving up a special Valentine’s Day sharing menu on February 14. Call (04) 388 2627 to make your reservation.
