Going all street down at JBR, deciding which five-star beach club to check into (because we can), living it large at Zero Gravity, prepping our locks at Pastels and unlocking our superpowers – that’s what we’re up to this weekend.
Thursday
Getting A Taste of Dubai’s Street Culture At JBR
Today marks the first day of Street Nights, a 10-day festival at JBR which celebrates the unconventional art scene in the region with homespun talent offering live painting, air-brush performances – nope, we haven’t a clue either – and street musicians in the form of the funkiest DJs in town. Of course, no street fair is complete without the intoxicating smells of street food wafting up from simmering stovetops… And yes, Street Nights has enough creative food concepts to keep you satisfied.
Street Nights is organised by Sphere Events, welcomes visitors of all ages, and the entrance is free. For more information visit streetnights.ae
Sampling The New Tasting Menu At Pier Chic
In a place where celebrity chefs are common place, we are spoilt for choice when it comes to cuisine. Spoiling us even further is the new signature tasting menu at iconic restaurant Pier Chic. Serving not one, not three but five-courses (come with elastic waistbands). The menu offers a great insight into what the restaurant has to offer – fresh fish and excellent quality meat. The meal consists of three starters (Cornish Crab Salad, Grilled Sea scallop and Lobster Bisque) a choice of two mains (Roasted Yellow Tail and Wagyu Beef Tenderloin) and a delicious dessert (Vanilla Panna Cotta).*
Treat a friend or a loved one and start at the bar, enjoying on of the many exquisite and creative homemade cocktails, before taking a seat on the terrace with the sea and the Burj Al Arab as your view.
Pier Chic‘s Signature Tasting Menu is Dhs700 (exclusive of drinks).
Friday
Joining Dubai’s Elite With Privilee
It’s usually insanely difficult to buy a Christmas present for the man in our lives, but this year Christmas has come early – and best of all, it’s a gift that we can benefit from too. Because instead of watches, golf clubs, aftershave or socks (tick according to how much you love your husband), we’ve splashed out on a Privilee membership. It may be in his name, but it entitles the whole family access to Dubai’s top hotels, beach clubs, gyms, spas as well as discounts at 125 restaurants. This means that every weekend you can select a different day out according to your mood, making it the most flexible – and most personalised – card out there. See you at the Shangri-La. Actually, make that brunch at Fairmont the Palm. No hang on, we fancy a spot of paddle boarding at Riva Beach Club…
See privilee.ae for more details.
Going As Big As We’ve Ever Gone at Zero Gravity’s One Big Friday
Zero Gravity’s garden and beach side area will be taken over by three of our favourite (this week anyway) acts as Hercules & Love Affair and 2ManyDJs take to the stage before Lost Frequencies, aka Felix De Laet, ensures we find our way to the dance floor with his infectious crowd-pleasing tunes. Yes, We’re With You.
Entrance to One Big Friday is free before 6pm, and Dhs150 thereafter. Tickets are available from Zero Gravity and online at platinumlist.net. For more information and VIP table packages, call Zero Gravity on (04) 3990009.

Prepping Our Hair For The Emirates Woman, Woman Of The Year Awards With A Hacial
We also thought we’d heard it all, but apparently there’s no such thing as too many beauty treatments and now the clever clogs at Pastels Salon have only gone and introduced a Hacial, which, yes, doesn’t take a brain surgeon to work out is a facial for the hair. With Soin Gommage Renovateur, a pre-cleanse product as its secret weapon, the Hacial moisturises, nourishes, repairs, rejuvenates while adding shine and eliminating split ends before you colour and cut.
The Hacial as an add-on treatment is priced from Dhs25-Dhs75 depending on hair length and as a stand-alone treatment from Dhs50.

Donning Our Cape For The Superhero Festival
Armed with a superpower that enables us to fly to Sharjah in order to skip the traffic jams, we’ll be swooping into the Al Majaz Waterfront to meet all our favourite superheroes and join in face painting and armour making workshops before catching the Lego Movie and Avengers 2: Age of Ultron.
The festival runs from November 19 – 21, for more information, visit almajaz.ae
DIARY DATE
The Dubai International Film Festival returns for its 12th year and we couldn’t be more amped to find out what celebrities will be landing on our fair shores. In the meantime we are enjoying a sneak peek into where all the A-listers will be hanging out – the VIP lounge. Here, they’ll enjoy the pampering and priming services of Make Up Forever, along with introductions to and gifts from brands like Moresque eau de parfum, luxury lifestyle retailers Rivoli, Lululemon activewear and jewellery by Rawana and Ahmad Kurdi.
