And we’re off… 25 designers, four after parties and five seasons – Fashion Forward Season Five kick-started yesterday (April 10) and boy it didn’t let us down. From influential FROW action to statement accessories in the garden, and showstopping gowns, we were truly impressed…
Hello, fabulous people. We always knew you lot where a stylish bunch, but you certainly pulled it out the park when it came to the style stakes. The bar was raised and originality shone through. Bravo! For more street style from Fashion Forward Season Five, visit here.
Comic what? Comic Con might be on but it seems Fashion Forward Season Five is winning the battle of the crowds with the region’s most stylish hot-footing to Madinat Jumeriah for everything sartorial and glamorous. That said, there was a small nod to our favourite comics…
Garden party. The Garden – a hallway of stalls displaying, and selling, some of the best fashion pieces the UAE has to offer – was garnering more attention then ever. From statement clucthes to sequinned tees and fierce interior accessories, just buying something, anything, from the Garden would immediately elevate your cool status, so much so it nearly over-shawdowed the shows… nearly…
Man of the hour… or rather the weekend. CEO and founder of Fashion Forward Mr Bong Guerrero.
FROW-tastic. There may have only been two fashion shows yesterday but the style elite were still out in full force and very present in the front row….
Opening show. There’s always great pressure to open a fashion event but Ezra’s fairy tale couture showcase was so perfect that if there was pressure it wasn’t revealed, hidden instead under a plethora of structured gowns.
The collection was so breathetaking with the cream and pink colour code making the gowns ideal bridal options as well… How amazing would the below dress be for a wedding?
In the family. From ladylike lustre at Ezra to utilitarian chic at The Emperor 1688, the Golkar brothers sent models down the runway in boxy jackets paired with mini-skirts, offering a nod to the 1960s. Cage boots and origami-style hats helped give the collection a modern feel.
Animal magic. The most popular trend at Fashion Forward was anything with an animal print. We’re not talking snake skin and leopard spot patterns but actual images of animals on just about everything. Kudos to Shawn Stephens and his incredible giraffe shirt and tie from Ferragamo.
The after party. We all know that no fashion event is complete without an after party, and last night’s extravaganza was celebrated at French restaurant Frioul with the fashionable crowds chatting, drinking and dancing into the early hours with Burj Al Arab as backdrop – now that’s how you end a night in style.
