Super-stylist Luke Hersheson teaches us how to get summer’s carefree, bohemian-inspired locks.

Follow these four easy steps (as demonstrated in the video) to achieve boho waves:

1.

The easiest way to create a soft boho wave is to start with hair that’s a day old. If it’s clean, use a dry shampoo, such as Sachajuan Volume Powder (Dhs145), and spray on from a distance. Dry shampoo gives hair a matte appearance, you don’t want anything too shiny. A boho look is all about looking slightly undone.

2.

The parting is important. The boho feel is more about a centre parting as opposed to a side parting as seen on the runway at Etro and Valentino. Don’t use a comb, your fingers are also an amazing tool to work with. The parting should feel almost like it’s happened naturally.

3.

Take the front bits of your hair and tuck them behind you ears, this will create a bend and the beginning of a soft wave in the front, which will frame your cheekbones and jaw line.

4.

Take random sections of hair from the top of the head and using a Hershesons Tourmaline Waving Tong, twist the hair around it while moving it up and down the barrel, this ensures you don’t get a wave that’s too set. Leave the ends out and instead twist and pinch using your fingers to create a rough texture, you want them to have a lived-in feel. To hold the hair and keep the done-undone look use Elnett hairspray by L’Oreal.
