“Some people travel to a conference for their job, I go to fashion week. You never tire from sitting FROW and, if you do, you can’t sit with me. I love everything about them; from designers fixing a hem backstage to the euphoria when the first exit hits the runway. It is work, though, and I can never completely relax as I’m busy sketching, Instagramming and thinking ‘did Dolce do that in 94?’ My dream is to one day attend as a regular citizen and just enjoy it for what it is: the most fabulous seven minutes any fashion girl could ask for.”
DAY ONE
6.00am
Departing from Dubai airport during fashion week always makes me smile. You usually bump into other journos, discuss which shows you’re doing and plan to meet up for a drink (but never do). I have to pace myself today as I have the Moschino show tonight followed by dinner with the team that are flying me out.
4.00pm
The first thing I do upon check-in is hang up my clothes to allow easy access when I have ten minutes to get changed in-between shows. Next I open my mail and sort my invitations. Sometimes I get brilliant surprises, like from mytheresa.com who sent me pieces to wear.
8.00pm
In all its pink, puffy and pretty glory, the Moschino Barbie collection took me right back to my childhood. We were the first in the world to get that (now famous) iPhone case that night and, I won’t lie, I was pretty happy about it.
DAY TWO
8.30am
There really isn’t a better way to start the day than breakfast with Sergio Rossi Creative Director, Angelo Ruggeri. Love him, love his shoes and can’t wait to see him again tonight at the cocktails he’s hosting.
11.00am
Feeling elated after my visit with Angelo, so a quick stop in Sergio Rossi is a must – these boots! LOVE.
1.00pm
A meeting with the Bottega Veneta team at The Four Seasons Milan for lunch meant stuffed zucchini and crab – sustenance for the rest of the afternoon!
Post lunch, I got a tour of the Bottega Veneta boutique which is just as breathtaking as its bags, shoes, the list goes on…
7.00pm (and beyond)
Sergio Rossi cocktails followed with a dinner at Nobu hosted by Giorgio Armani. You could call it a good day in the office.
DAY THREE
7.00am
Early breakfast with my invitations before Bottega Veneta at 9am. I make a fleeting exit as I have to make it to the other side of town for Giorgio Armani.
11.00am
This is what it looks like outside Giorgio Armani. His shows are in such demand that he has two – one after the other.
1.00pm
A quick lunch stop with other Middle Eastern journalists at 10 Corso Como before the Jimmy Choo presentation.
3.00pm
Bulgari has taken over the best hotel in Milan (Bulgari of course) and presented their wares in style.
5.00pm
Pitstop back at the hotel for a costume change then off to Emilio Pucci where Naomi stole the show.
DAY FOUR
9.00am
My last day of this whirlwind trip began with the Marni show followed by the Marni Flower Market, a pop-up at Rotunda Della Besana. It was, without a doubt, the most beautiful market ever to exist! Food and bubbles were passed around as everyone shopped all things Marni.
12.30pm
Last meal in Milan and boy it was good.
2.00pm
Saved the best ‘till last, I can never, ever get enough of Dolce & Gabbana. It’s the second time I’ve seen Barbie on the catwalk this week.
4.00pm
Back at hotel packing – airport pick up in three hours. I arrive in Dubai at 6am and need to be in the office by 9am. Ciao for now Milan.
