Park Hyatt Zurich is a city centre triumph with style, glamour and history all on its footstep…
THE LOWDOWN
“Not much has changed in Zurich over the years” is the resounding opinion given by most Swiss living in Switzerland’s largest city, but there in lies the charm of the perpetually festive metropolis. With most buildings unscathed since their erection in the 14th century, Park Hyatt Zurich (the first purpose-built five-star hotel in Zurich in 20 years) is a welcome contemporary hotel that, while celebrating the history of its city, offers the modern necessities required to stand out in the 21st century.
Located in the heart of the financial and shopping hub Park Hyatt Zurich is the only international five-star luxury hotel in Zurich and the go-to destination for visiting celebrities.
SUITE LIFE
“The Swiss don’t boast their wealth” is another viewpoint commonly shared in Zurich, and that is evident in Park Hyatt – it’s evident a lot of money went into its construction and layout (the design is cutting-edge and faultless) but its aesthetic remains classy, stylish yet practical, comfortable but not casual. All 142 rooms and suites have the amenities associated with a modern five-star hotel – Bang & Olufsen TVs (with an impressive array of international channels), state-of-the-art sound systems, DVD players, shoe shining and laundry service, luxurious large marble bathroom with separate soaking tub and rain shower, 24-hour in-room dining, Nespresso machines, 24/7 room service and complimentary newspaper. Inside the somewhat small wardrobes guests will find fluffy robes, comfy slippers and an umbrella. If that’s not enough, guests can also email the concierge in advance and request more personal details.
STYLISH EATS
Plush interiors and a real fireplace make the Lounge restaurant – open for breakfast, lunch and dinner – a cosy option. Parkhuus is a bold and vibrant restaurant that features a centrepiece show kitchen and a two-storey wine library that reaches up to the top of the six-metre high ceiling. The menu is product-driven, concentrating on natural produce from local artisan producers. Famous for its signature cocktails, especially those stored in ageing barrels, Onyx bar is a fabulous spot in which both the business set and the stylish men and women about town mingle and also offers cocktail classes, affording guests the opportunity to pick up some serious mixology skills.
WELLBEING
Executive Chef Frank Widmer has worked closely with nutritionist Marianne Botta to create his acclaimed brain and beauty food – feel-good cuisine served in the Lounge restaurant and also available from room service. The clever combinations of ingredients encourage concentration and help prevent bouts of tiredness and slumps in performance. Perfect for those on strict diets, the beauty and brain menus only contain small amounts of carbs, but that’s not to say the dishes aren’t satisfying and incredibly delicious.
