Food lovers – especially those who enjoy a bite of oriental spice – are sure to go into raptures over the distinctive flavours at Sukhothai, Le Meridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre, a Thai haven in the heart of Garhoud.
Décor
In the cooler months you can sit outside and literally dine under the stars. Inside is rather romantic with candle light setting a relaxed vibe. Hand carved wooden interiors make for a comfortable setting.
Ambience
A smiling and happy face wishing Swadeeka (Thai for welcome) as you enter sets the tone for the rest of the evening. As soon as we settled there was someone ready with the menu (the traditional one and an iPad version). For a weekday the place was buzzing with live music providing energetic entertainment.
Food
The Oriental prawn soup was lipsmackingly delicious. The papaya salad was crispy and accompanied with the chicken wrapped in pandan leaf with sweet soy and sesame seeds was not too heavy, allowing room for a dessert. Ditch the diet for one night and order the mouth-watering Khao Mod Thod I Sa Cream (deep-fried banana wrapped with rice flower and coconut served with coconut ice cream).
Why bother?
There are lots of Thai restaurants in Dubai and yet the grand old dame Sukhothai in the Le Meridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre holds its own and stands tall.
Go For
