North West, daughter of mega-star couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West has made her modelling debut – wearing Chanel, no less.
North West was shot by renowned photographer Michael Avedon for the autumn issue of CR Fashion Book in a side-buttoned cashmere cardigan and diamond earrings with a miniature classic quilted Chanel bag draped over her leg. She even has a Camellia brooch – a favourite of Coco Chanel herself.
Words from Chanel’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld appear in the corner of the editorial page, saying: “It is never too early to care about fashion.” As well as featuring the adorable tot, CR Fashion Book also labels North as a “future legend”.
North has certainly started early, making her debut glossy editorial coverage in a spread in Vogue US along with her famous parents.
The 13-month-old was styled by the magazine’s editor-in-chief, and former editor of Vogue Paris, Carine Roitfeld, who has spoken out in support of the Kardashian empire. Roitfeld once featured Kim on one of her covers and compared her to the Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe.
Other faces who star alongside little North in the magazine are late Italian architect, Carlo Mollino (portrayed by model Lara Stone); late photographer and father of Terry Richardson, Bob Richardson; as well as a host of fashion designers.
According to North’s mother, Kim Kardashian, the tot loves being in front of the lens, and is even a fan of pulling a duck face. “When she’s aware there’s a camera she does this pose face; like this serious, like, duck lips and stare, it’s so cute,” Kim said in a recent interview. “She’s a Kardashian everybody!”
Despite her worldwide fame, Kanye has forbidden his daughter from appearing on her mother’s hit show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians. However, Kim says that North will be in some of the finale episode, which features part of the legendary ‘Kimye’ wedding.
We can’t help but think that North is indeed a future legend. Either way, it’s never too early for your first Chanel.
