Forget about getting that early night tonight. If ever there was an evening for you to stop up it’s tonight to catch the specular meteor shower and supermoon that will be filling the UAE skies.UAE residents are in for a real astronomical treat tonight with both a supermoon and meteor shower lighting up our sky at 10.10pm.
The meteor shower is a result of the earth passing through the debris zone left by Comet Swift-Tuttle, offering a view of 100 shooting stars per hour! However, stargazers will also be able to catch the year’s largest supermoon (a full moon which is closet to the earth). According to Nasa, the supermoon is 14 to 30 per cent larger than other full moons.
