beauty Q&A

When it comes to your cosmetic queries, Beauty Editor Samantha Hamilton-Rushforth explains it all from body foundations to organic treats and luscious lashes (minus extensions).

Q.) I’m wearing shorts and skirts a lot more as the weather heats up but I have an uneven skin tone on my legs, is there a body foundation I can use to cover this up?

A.)  There are several brands that do body foundations but they are mostly used on film sets or for covering up scars or body art. In this weather I wouldn’t recommend you go down that route, as you’ll have to constantly be touching it up as it melts off. The best way to improve the appearance of your skin is to keep it moisturised so I would recommend a lightweight body oil like Benefit’s classic Bathina, which also leaves you with a slight shimmer.

Q.) I’ve been using purely natural and organic ingredients on my skin for the part year and have seen a vast improvement, are there any all-natural hair care brands I can invest in, as well?

It’s great that you’re adopting a more chemical-free approach to your beauty regime but a word of warning, not all brands that claim they are organic actually contain purely natural ingredients. I recommend always reading the labels clearly and shopping at your local pharmacy or organic market for the best results. That being said one haircare brand that is organic and has really impressed me recently is O’right, all their products are manufactured from EcoCert and USDA Organic ingredients.

Q.) I’m giving my eyelashes a rest from extensions for a month but they look thinner than ever and it’s making me really self-conscious. What’s the best mascara on the market for faking fullness until I get my extensions back?

A.) Eyelash extensions look great when they’re on but what you’re experiencing now is the fallout of having something chemically glued to your lashes. After you take extensions out the eye area needs time to recover so take two months off and one month on if you can, your lashes will thank you for it in later life. In the mean time there are some seriously heavy-duty mascaras available at the moment so try one of the products below and hopefully they will convince you to ditch those extensions for good!
