Beauty Editor Samantha Hamilton Rushforth delivers quick-fix solutions to your summer make-up, scent and hair problems.
Q.) This weather is no friend to my hair. How can I tame my tresses without simply putting them in a ponytail?
I really feel your pain, but I promise you there are some cute, quick-fix solutions that will still leave you looking your best. Rather than hiding it away in a simple ponytail take all the hair to one side and braid it unevenly till the end. Tie it with a sparkly hair band and gently pull out tiny sections of the braid from the bottom to the top of the hair. This will make it look like you’ve intentionally given it a low-key, surfer girl twist and you won’t have to worry about any unwanted frizz.
Q.) My husband had this amazing perfume on holiday, it came in a blue bottle with Hawaiian prints on it and smelled really fresh and summery, I can’t remember the name of it but I want to buy him another bottle, can you help?
A.) I know the exact scent you’re talking about. It’s the new limited edition 212 Surf for Him fragrance by Carolina Herrera. The strongest notes you’ll recognise are the grapefruit and patchouli – it’s definitely unique. You can repurchase it exclusively at Wojooh (formally Faces), hope that helps!
Q.) I’m starting my own beauty blog this summer as a project for university and I really want to do a Ramadan-inspired make-up tutorial, but I can’t seem to find any cool inspiration pictures. Where can I look for a modern take on Arabic beauty trends?
A.) Sephora have done a lovely shoot to accompany their Ramadan campaign it has a great balance of Arabic influences like heavy kohl liner and dark brows, but it’s still a great Iftar look and not too difficult to replicate. If you have any questions on how to recreate it just head to one of their flagship stores and a Sephora make-up artist can help. Good luck.
