Curitiba
This city is packed full of green spaces. Located in the highlands, it has municipal parks, squares, gardens and fabulous open-air food markets.
USP: It’s Brazil’s coldest state capital with an average of 8c at this time of year.
Shop: Ditch the malls and enjoy the sights and smells of the Municipal Food market on Rua Sete de Setembro in central Curitiba.
Eat and Drink: Manu Restaurant’s head chef, Manoella Buffaro, earned her stripes at Noma. In the Batel neighbourhood this is foodie heaven for a fraction of the cost. The Don Max bar, close to the football stadium, is a great place to watch football and enjoy a few drinks.
Sleep: Hotel San Juan Johnscher in downtown Curatiba is a beautiful neo-classical building that houses ultra-modern amenities. It has a fantastic restaurant and, with only twenty-four rooms, it’s pleasantly private.
