The Hollywood actress and Revlon ambassador, Olivia Wilde, obsesses over organic shampoo and loves to rock a low-key look. Get ready to take notes from our new beauty BFF…
They don’t come much cooler than Olivia Wilde. A style icon, A-list actress and natural stunner, she’s sailed her way to the top of Hollywood with standout roles in Cowboys And Aliens, Tron and Rush – a long way from her breakthrough role in The O.C.
As soon as Olivia’s film credentials started to pour in, so did the beauty endorsement offers. Revlon snapped the 30-year-old up as the face of their cosmetics line in 2007 alongside fellow rising star Emma Stone, and the rest, they say, is beauty history. Seven years later the partnership is still going strong and Olivia is more than happy to reprise her role this year as the spokesperson for the new Rio Rush collection. Emirates Woman quizzes the multi-tasking new mum on the beauty lessons she’s learned along the way…
What’s the biggest beauty misconception people have about you?
“Probably that the eyebrows you see on the red carpet are my real eyebrows. They’re definitely not! We put a lot of work into them.”
Do you prefer to spend hours getting ready for an event or multi-task your make-up process?
“I’m a low maintenance multi-tasker. My style is effortless and I don’t like to put on too much heavy make-up. I’m very low key.”
You’ve been known to switch up your beauty looks on the red carpet; do you have a favourite look to date?
“When I went to the Golden Globes this year, I wore this tight body hugging emerald Gucci dress and we really wanted to come up with a beauty look to complement it. Melanie Inglessis, my make-up artist, created this smoky eye with deep purples, browns and blacks. I loved it.”
What are your ‘can’t live without’ products?
“Eyebrow pencil, concealer, a BB cream with SPF – I love Revlon’s BB Cream, which has SPF30, ColorStay Eyeliner and Lash Potion Mascara.”
Do you spend longer on your skincare or make-up routine?
“Definitely on my make-up routine, I’m less obsessed with skincare.”
What’s the best beauty lesson you’ve learned from the Revlon team?
“I’ve learned about prepping the skin and making sure it’s well moisturised before putting on make-up. I learned that no matter how good the make-up is, you need to treat your skin very well.”
Who taught you how to do your own make-up?
“Originally I learned from watching my mum do her make-up, but then after years of having it done on me I’ve picked up some handy tricks.”
How often do you restock your beauty bag?
“I top it up once every season when the new shades and products from Revlon come out.”
How do you look after your locks?
“I love natural organic hair products like Rahua Volumnising Shampoo And Conditioner, and Rodin Hair Oil.”
If you could go back in time and give one piece of advice to your younger self what would it be?
“Haha, easy. It’d have to be: ’Don’t shave your head and stop plucking your eyebrows!’”
