One of the world’s highest paid supermodels, Gisele Bündchen, is about to add another substantial set of earnings to her bank account after being announced as the new face of Chanel No.5.

The Brazilian supermodel takes over from the late Marilyn Monroe as the spokesperson for the print and video campaigns for one of the best-selling and most iconic perfumes in the world, with the first commercial set to be on screens and in magazines by the end of this year.

Speaking out about their decision to replace Monroe, who has an famous history with the scent, previously announcing it was all she wore to bed, Chanel revealed that Bündchen was chosen for the coveted role thanks to her “natural beauty and modern femininity.” No stranger to the French fashion brand, the mum-of-two has also been the face and voice of their Les Beiges make-up collection since last year, which was shot by long-time Chanel collaborator, Mario Testino, who is also a personal friend of the 33-year-old.

Following in the footsteps of actresses Nicole Kidman,Audrey Tautou and actor Brad Pitt, the former Victoria’s Secret angel will have to show off her skills in front of the camera as she’s currently filming the commercial for the perfume in the Hamptons with famed director BazLuhrmann. The Australian director, who is the mastermind behind blockbuster hits including Moulin Rouge and The Great Gatsby, previously worked on Nicole Kidman’s campaign for the brand over a decade ago and was asked, once again, to bring “his creativity and very personal aesthetic to the house and its iconic fragrance, Chanel No.5.” Promising to bring a much-needed boost of glamour to the campaigns, rather than a depressing monologue (sorry, Brad Pitt) we can’t wait to see what the duo will unveil at the end of 2014.
