Manish Malhotra made his Paris Haute Couture Week debut with Maa, a collection dedicated to his late mother, whom he lost just three months before the show, the designer describing in his notes how her passing had transformed memory into reflection and reflection into creation. Divided into four chapters, each tracing a different period of their life together, the collection followed Malhotra’s own journey from boyhood into manhood through the unwavering love that shaped him, a tribute he called the architecture of a mother’s unconditional love, a connection that transcends time, distance, and words. That devotion translated into silhouettes larger than life, extravagant in scale yet grounded in the intricacy of Indian craftsmanship, embroidery and construction techniques drawn from his own heritage deployed in service of a collection that read less as a couture debut than as an act of remembrance.
