As the weekend approaches, residents of the UAE are looking towards the skies with a question: will the relentless summer heat finally break? According to the latest forecast from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), there is a possibility of rainfall in parts of the country, alongside a continued trend of slightly cooler mornings.

The day on Friday is expected to be generally fair to partly cloudy across the emirates. However, the forecast holds a specific and promising detail for some areas: “There is a probability of some convective clouds forming eastward, which might be associated with rainfall by afternoon.”

This means that eastern regions, such as parts of Al Ain and Fujairah, could see the development of cloud formations that often lead to short, sharp bursts of rain. While not a guarantee for everyone, it offers a hopeful sign of the shifting weather patterns as the season begins its slow transition.

Despite the chance of rain, daytime temperatures will remain high, characteristic of a UAE summer. The NCM predicts maximum temperatures could reach a scorching 47ºC in internal areas. In the cities, residents can expect highs of 43ºC in Abu Dhabi and 41ºC in Dubai.

The relief will come as the sun sets. Overnight lows are forecast to drop to a more comfortable 31ºC in Abu Dhabi and 32ºC in Dubai, with mountainous regions experiencing significantly cooler air, dipping to around 23ºC.

This trend towards cooler mornings is not just a prediction for the weekend; it has already begun. The NCM has been logging noticeably cooler dawn lows this week, with temperatures recorded at 23.7°C on Tuesday at Al Heben Mountain (Fujairah) and 23.1°C on Wednesday at Al FarFar (Fujairah)**. While subtle, these figures are a small but telling sign that the peak of the summer furnace is easing.

Alongside temperature and rain predictions, the NCM has advised that light to moderate winds will blow across the country, freshening at times during the day and potentially causing blowing dust. Motorists are advised to be cautious while driving in open areas.

Furthermore, humidity is expected to increase by night and into Friday morning over some western areas, with a probability of fog or mist formation. Humidity levels will range from 30 to 80 per cent in Abu Dhabi and from 35 to 70 per cent in Dubai.

For those planning any maritime activities, conditions at sea are forecast to be slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.

In summary, while the weekend will still be hot, eastern UAE residents should keep an eye out for potential afternoon showers, and everyone can enjoy the gradually cooling early mornings—a welcome hint of the more pleasant weather to come.
