Actress, mum-of-three and Academy Award winner, Reese Witherspoon is set to take on a new role as she plans to unveil her own lifestyle-focused company.
Joining the ranks of fellow actors Gwyneth Paltrow, the founder of GOOP, Jessica Alba, who runs The Honest Company and Cameron Diaz, who recently released her first health and wellness book, Reese is planning to reveal her homemaking, cooking and style secrets in an all-new venture, which comes with her signature Southern twist.
Although the new business isn’t set to debut until 2015, the Nashville-born star has already started to get the ball rolling by recruiting Andrea Hale to join her yet-unnamed company as CEO. Andrea is the former president of C. Wonder, a successful lifestyle store founded by Tory Burch’s ex-husband. Reese will face direct competition from not only GOOP, which was successfully launched in 2008, but also, potentially, from former Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively who revealed in a recent interview that she was also setting her sights on the culinary and style world, with hopes to release her own lifestyle brand in the near future.
Drew Barrymore is clearly already a fan
Despite the current secrecy surrounding the launch, fans of Reese are already said to be on board with the predicted multi-platform venture. The 37-year-old’s humble, Southern ethos will come as a welcome contrast to Gwyneth’s somewhat-ridiculed website and newsletter. While her site has grown progressively in the last eight years, and now counts a multitude of famous movers and shakers among its guest editors, it has still come under fire for alienating a large majority of readers with elitist and overly priced shopping and food suggestions.
Reese and Gwyneth have long voiced their friendship and support for each other over the years, but with her reputation as one of the most well-liked and respected actresses in the business, Reese may have the edge to eventually convert team Paltrow fans to team Witherspoon.
