MY PARTY STYLE IS…
SOPHIA SERIN, Senior Editor
During the day, my style doesn’t vary a lot but by night – everything changes. Depending on my mood, and the event – I will go masculine and don a tuxedo one night then a tutu the next.
My party wardrobe consists of a lot of black, white and cream cocktail dresses, which I dress up with a statement piece – heels, hats and capes are my favourite. I know YSL invented the ‘le smoking’ for women but my Ralph Lauren tuxedo takes the cake as my favourite party outfit ever!
PARTIES I’LL BE ATTENDING
In addition to all of the fabulous DIFF soirées, work launches and events, I will be hosting several dinner parties, so I’ll have an on-the-go wardrobe under lock and key in the Motivate studio.
INSPIRATION
I have so many but Gwyneth Paltrow is turning out to be a favourite. A style chameleon, she looks as good in a suit as she does a skirt and never looks over-done, which I love.
SARH JOAN ROS, Style Director
I like the play on maxi-meets-minimalist: modern, vintage and interesting silhouettes. I tend to opt for items that will have longevity, like a classic tuxedo – Raf Simons at Dior did remarkable versions this season – cashmere knits and vintage fur. Basically anything I can wear now and then pull out when I’m 80. My party style in Dubai varies depending on venue and occasion, one night I could be at a pool party wearing a C’est Moi kaftan and the next, at a black tie event sporting vintage Balenciaga, but mainly my heart lies with a well-cut tailored smoking jacket, so Saint Laurent is on my wish list this festive season.
Parties I’ll be attending
I’ll be out and about at festive gatherings, cocktail parties and anything to do with the Dubai Film Festival.
Inspiration
My inspiration is Kate Moss in Saint Laurent. The model rarely gets it wrong when it comes to her sense of style.

My party style
My go-to look is classic and feminine with a modern twist. I prefer dresses that enhance the female silhouette and project a striking look without making too much of a fuss. This season I’ll be sticking to ladylike dresses and enhancing them with pearls and fun costume jewellery.
Parties I’ll be attending
I’ll be attending a lot of festive gatherings at my friends or drinking bubbly at Glo Bar in The Rosewood Hotel, Abu Dhabi.
Inspiration
I adore Grace Kelly with her elegant style. Everything from her glamorous red carpet haute couture gowns of the 1960s or her chic daywear, she proved that true style never goes out of fashion.
